A picturesque village
The village of Comrie has been repeatedly recognized as one of the most picturesque in Scotland. It sits in the region of Perth and Kinross, at the bottom of the Highlands, along the River Earn. There are mountains in the area, offering the hiker or mountaineer endless possibilities. This is a quiet, pretty village which has its origins in prehistory; evidence has been found indicating that the Picts, and later the Celts, lived here. It was later occupied by Roman troops, and was one of the northernmost outposts of the Roman Empire.
Visually it is very charming, in the middle of the scenic route to Perth along Loch Earn, St Fillans and Crieff.
