Columbus statue
Located in Columbus Circle Square, southwest of Central Park, next to the park between 59th and Broadway, this 70 foot column was built in 1892 to commemorate the anniversary of the voyage of Columbus and was a gift from George T. Delacorte to NYC in 1965. The three ships that are at the sides of the column symbolize the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. This assumes that Columbus was in America, and doesn't point anywhere. Don't miss the experience of visiting New York while using the NYpass.
