Durante muchos siglos formó parte de un enclave estratégico en constante disputa, llegando a pertenecer a los reinos de Aragón y de Mallorca entre los siglos XII y XVII. En 1659, como consecuencia del Tratado de los Pirineos, España cedió el Rossellón a Francia y Colliure pasó a formar parte de lo que muchos llamarían más tarde la «Cataluña Norte». Ya en tiempos recientes, Colliure vivió dos episodios notables relacionados con el arte: hacia 1904 se convirtió en la cuna del fauvismo, impulsado por Matisse, y en 1939 fue el lugar que vio morir al poeta Antonio Machado, cuya tumba podréis encontrar allí.

De esa imagen se enamoraron los pintores Matisse y Derain durante el verano de 1905. Y de ese amor surgió el Fauvismo, el movimiento que elevó al color puro, sin mezclas ni atenuantes, a símbolo de libertad. Hubo más artistas que visitaron Collioure durante la primera mitad del siglo XX. Picasso, Chagall, Dufy y Marquet sucumbieron a su embrujo, y tal vez su aura bohemia y encantada fue lo que hizo que Antonio Machado lo eligiera como lugar de exilio –donde murió a poco de llegar- en 1939. Collioure, invadida por el arte, cambió para siempre. Hoy un ‘Camino del Fauvismo’ reproduce veinte obras de Matisse y Derain instaladas en los sitios donde fueron pintadas, e innumerables galerías de arte y ateliers nos recuerdan que el puerto medieval fue ‘Cité des Peintres’ en pleno siglo XX.

Además comimos en un restaurante (que si me logro acordar del nombre lo pondré) buenísimo, sí es verdad que todos me resultaban algo caro para lo que íbamos buscando, pero el hambre al final hizo que nos metiéramos en uno y nos gusto mucho, tanto que tenemos ganas de hacer otra pequeña salida, aunque sólo sea por pasear por allí un día, hacer el recorrido por esa carretera, visitando el resto de los pueblos cercanos y comer tan bien como comimos en aquel sitio.

Sans parler des férias qui ont lieu autour du 15 aout. Je recommande vivement!

Collioure est une petite ville du Languedoc Roussillon aux portes de l'Espagne. De nombreux monuments sont à y voir tel le château royal, le fort saint elme ou l’Église notre dame des anges. Mais aussi les ruelles pavées ou encore la promenade au bord de la mer et les nombreux petits restaurants que vous y trouverez (attention cependant aux attrapes touristes). Seul petit inconvénient dans la ville, le stationnement,qui particulièrement en été ou est difficile, mais aussi partout payant.
