Cliffs of Blanc-Nez

7 reviews of Cliffs of Blanc-Nez

Natural park

Excellent

Between the towns of Calais and wissant, is the natural park of Blac-Nez, mostly formed by cliffs that lend it's name to the park but also encompass some monuments of the Second World War, as the area was deeply affected due to it's close proximity to Great Britain. The best way to see these cliffs is following the recommended route towards Calais - wissant (north to south). From the beginning we realized that the continuous warnings are not in vain, as the winds are particularly strong and enveloping there. But it's worth it because if the day permits, the sea, the coast of Dover and even the surrounding valleys are beautiful ... you must take into account that the when you're at the top of the cliffs, you're at the highest point in the area. Another great area to lose yourself in nature, which in the present case we have to brand as French!

Once we leave behind the bunkers and cliffs in Calais, we see the existence of a huge obelisk, one of the deepest there is in the sea. This monument indicates the existence of one of the most important in the natural park of Blanc-Nez. When we get a little closer, we can see that this obelisk is a tribute to everyone who died in this area during WWII in this strategic enclave. The views are breathtaking and usually visitors spirit is most solemn, after there are numerous panels explaining the history of this place. As one of the recommended stops on the itinerary of the Opal Coast (either on foot or by car), this corner is usually quite crowded, mostly by British citizens.

By dgag time, there are well coasts of England. We still see, loved ones nearby, the remains of the Second World War (bunkers, craters from bombs ...). Cap Blanc-Nez

Le Cap Blanc-Nez

Excellent
With its 134 meters above the sea, the Cap Blanc-Nez is an impressive promontory given coastal area, rather associated with "the North Sea for the last wave field and waves of dunes to stop the waves" ... Its white walls that give it the name "white headland" to rise above the area, offering unparalleled views of England to the west by weather, Gris-Nez neighbor to the southwest, Calais and Boulogne north east. At the top, the very recognizable column Dover Patrol, always surrounded by the German bunkers, welcome the sacrifice of soldiers and their allies fighting in the Pas-de-Calais between France and the English coast. Some shell craters are still visible throughout the site.

Ue tip chalk in the Channel. Between Calais and Boulogne is the Cap Blanc Nez. Where the earth join the sea white cliff jutting into the sea with elegance during high tides. Top Cape, we discover a wonderful panorama, a contrast between the green and the sand, the boats sail on the sea, and far away in good weather white england reveals his ribs. Mythical place in the Pas-de-Calais, Cap Blanc Nez shows the richness of nature. At the foot of this course, the man seems very small compared to the sea that ran aground on the sand. The sea air invigorates us, while in the distance glowing sun dips into the ocean. The darkness cover us, and on the horizon you can see the lights ... English A quiet place where only the sound of waves and seagulls disturb the peaceful nature.

Magnifique vue

Excellent
