Clarita Restaurant

Beautiful decoration

At the doors of the Corredera Baje de San Pablo is another gem of a place which is modern in lieu of vintage, and has tables, lamps, furniture, floors, plants and just a bit of everything. The place is huge. It’s perfect for having a coffee, a cocktail and/or a bite to eat, be it dinner or brunch (yes, it’s so modern it even offers brunch in Madrid) while you read a magazine and think that you want a house decorated like the shop. The cold tones, industrial details, interior plants and randomly placed furniture are all very well placed.

Of course, the food is good and it’s not expensive: between 6 to 8 Euros for a main dish. On their Facebook page, they publish the daily menu (11€). Sometimes they serve complicated, experimental dishes and at other times simple, traditional dishes like green beans with ham, grilled salmon or pork fillet with potatoes. Sounds good, doesn’t it? A coffee runs about 1.50 € (without a cookie) and there are comfortable armchairs in the back and cushions next to the windows.

11870.com, which I confess to be my bible for knowledge when it comes to restaurants in the city, chose it among the best of 2011. It’s always one of my favorite options for eating good food or having a drink while going for a stroll through malasaña.
