Civic Center
Newcastle Civic Centre is located in the Haymarket neighborhood, near the University of the city. This is where all official ceremonies are held and it is the most important administrative center of the city. It was built in 1967 by architect George Kenyon, and was King Olav V of Norway that opened in 1968. City had long expected a new civic center, since before the Second World War, until that time were contests to find an original design, but with the war, the project was delayed two decades.
