Ciboure

Overshadowed in the shadow of the nearby San Juan de Luz (Donibane Lohitzune), the formerly called "Zubiburu" (bridgehead, which is what separates it from San Juan de Luz), is one of the most charming towns of the Country Basque. Ravel's hometown, low of that house is currently used as tourist office, and the building is known as the "house Ravel" Dutch style. It is situated right by the sea. The highlights of this place are - The Fort of Sokoa - The church of San Vicente, with a beautiful wooden gallery inside, and 3 bell shaped roofs and octagonal, the one with this way in the Basque Country but it is worth getting lost in the narrow streets.

It isn't a very big town, so in just a couple of hours, you can surely see it all. If you are thinking about visiting San Juan de Luz, it is probably best to start at the beach Hendaya, because from there you pass by the Abbadie Castle (also recommended to visit), then head up the road at the Corniche road and from there you can enter Sokoa (where is strong), to pass Ciboure / Ziburu before reaching San Juan de Luz / Donibane Lohitzune. You will be very happy that you took this route.
