Christian church with classical elements
Its full name is the Most Holy Redeemer Church (Church of the Most Holy Redeemer) and it operates as an important religious building located on the island of Giudecca. Desperate for an end to the plague that struck Venice between 1575 and 1577 (with nearly 50,000 killed), the local population asked Christ the Redeemer end the plague and when the plague ended, in gratitude, they built this church. A Christian church with all the elements of a classical temple, white marble façade and an interior with a single nave with impressive decorative side chapels.
