Church of Santa María del Puerto
The church of Santa María del Puerto is located in Santona, Cantabria. It consists of a Romanesque style temple and dates from the first half of the thirteenth century. At its inception, the temple was part of a Benedictine monastery. Although no one knows for sure the origin of this temple, its founder was St. James. Then in the eighth century, the Benedictines founded their monastery in its place. It has three naves, whose pillars are circular.
