Carlos Olmo
Part of a religious complex
The church of Our Lady of La Merced is part of the religious complex where the city of Santiago de Cali was founded. As well as the church, you can see the chapel of the Virgin of the Remedies, the St. John Lateran and a colonial convent and religious art museum, which was unfortunately closed when I visited. In 1975, the monastery was declared a national monument by the government of Colombia, and the whole complex is worth visiting as it's extremely well maintained and preserved, which is not very common in the colonial area of the city.
