Chowpatty Beach

Urban beach

Chowpatty Beach is one of the most representative of Bombay's beaches. It is named in many novels by Indian authors such as White Tiger or Chandra, stories similar to the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. It is located near one end of Back Bay and from here you can see part of the "skyline" of Bombay, facing the Arabian Sea. Bathing is not recommended as like the rest of the city and much of India, there are piles of garbage everywhere, with crows pecking the odd clueless cow. But it is a good place to see the sunset and share moments and smiles with the people of Bombay who come to escape the heat after the working day (or unemployment) and to take a few ice creams and juices.

The juice and food stalls by the sea are very curious! Though I would not trust eating or drinking something from them, but they are certainly colorful and full of life! In short, a good place to have a good time, because the people are very friendly, smiling and, barring hustlers who can be a little heavy, in general it is a good part of this great city, wild and fascinating, although there are many that it would overwhelm.

City Beach

The beach is Chawpatty most central Mumbai. It is a beautiful crescent of sand at the end of Marine Drive at the foot of Malabar Hill. The beach is wide enough to isolate the constant noise of horns on the boulevard. It was arranged by the municipality with public lighting and large bins regularly aligned. However, this is not a recommended place to swim, the water is not free from pollution, and indeed Indians do "practice" not the beach like us. It is basically a place to walk, without shade so difficult to fréquentable scorching hours of the day. Street vendors offer snacks and drinks. It is mainly held there the biggest events of the "Ganesha" in September where the idols of Ganapati (God Ganesh) is immersed in the waters of the sea Ganapati, the god of success is particularly honor to Mumbai, the city that wants to succeed.
