Great historical and architectural value
The main street in Bitola, known as Cadessi Hamidiye Turkish, the great street or "Chirok Sokak", the wide street. This street is historically and architecturally significant, but also aesthetic and friendly. They knew how to preserve an urban environment. Today is a pedestrian street, which was always for residential and small business. Since the late 19th century, it was the great north-south axis of the city, leaving the old Carsija market and the other old neighborhoods in the north. There was also military construction in the 19th century, and a public garden. The street almost arrives at the Roman ruins of Heraclea.
You can imagine Chirok Sokak, with people from the past, walking or with horse carts and well dressed for the theater, the cafes or restaurants. Some say that Bitola is the most talked about in the Balkans as it is a major cultural capital. The renovation of the exterior, flowers, urban equipment and lighting at night gave Sokak Chirok past splendor.
