Fishing village
Almost on the border with Belize, we found the town of Mahahual. Basically fishing village, people live on a catch of conch and lobster, exploiting the waters of Banco Chinchorro, an atoll coral the size of Cozumel, which is the delight of any diver (declared a natural reserve). This atoll is only accessible for fishing cooperatives and biologists responsible for the area. The government is trying to create a balance between ecotourism and controlled fishing of queen conch, the symbol of the region. I support this initiative, as there are very few places I've seen that are so extraordinarily beautiful.
