Chiesa Santa Maria Del Suffragio

Está emplazada justo al lado de la mucho más grandiosa Basílica de la Madonna della Madia, la catedral de Monopoli. La modesta estructura puede carecer de la majestuosidad de la catedral de al lado, pero llama la atención, sin embargo, gracias a las imágenes macabras en la entrada y por las momias que se exhiben en el interior. El simbolismo de la muerte que recibe a los visitantes en todo momento en este templo, es una advertencia del sufrimiento y el dolor del purgatorio que aguarda a los que pecan sin arrepentimiento.

It is located right next to the much grander Basilica of the Madonna della Madia, the cathedral of Monopoli. The modest structure may lack the majesty of the cathedral next door, but draws attention, however, thanks to the macabre images at the entrance and the mummies that are displayed inside. The symbolism of death that receives visitors at all times in this temple is a warning of the suffering and pain of purgatory that awaits those who sin without repentance.
