Learn about money at this free museum
If money really makes the world go ‘round, then it’s useful to know about its history and how it goes around in today’s society. The Chicago Money Museum, located inside the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, is a good place to learn about just that. This free museum has engaging and interactive exhibits that show how much space $1 million (in $1 bills) takes up, how money is shredded, and what shredded bills look like. (All visitors receive a free bag of shredded money.) There are also informative boards where visitors can read about money.
The man I spoke with inside was incredibly knowledgeable
(ex: he told a story of someone who attempted to steal more than $150,000 in nickels and why the United States will likely not rid of the penny anytime soon), so if you can find one of the folks working there to talk to, it will enhance the experience and time you spend there, as they can answer many questions.
