We were looking for a place to eat in New York that wasn't overflowing with tourists...a local place where we could relax a bit and eat something good and normal. We found Chevy's, a Mexican chain with plenty of tasty dishes and friendly staff. The diners were almost exclusively New York locals, which is exactly what we were looking for.
