Chén Chè
Ideally situated in a courtyard of the Rosenthalerstr, I especially like the decoration of this Vietnamese teahouse. Many celebrities have come to taste their teas and bilingual menu (English and German), including Mannheim singer Xavier Naidoo, actors and filmmakers. Open from 12.00-24.00 there are natural orchids on both floors, ceramic teapots and brass occupy half the bar, there's a typical Asian cage with birds of various colors in the corner and a spacious terrace has 3 corners to make tea. The lamps of different colored fabrics and sizes create a calm yet cheerful atmosphere which perfectly reflect Vietnamese aesthetics.
For 3 years Chén Chè has delighted tea lovers, with original varieties such as chrysanthemum and rose and the traditional green and black. Chén Chè literally means "cup of tea" and in this unique corner of Berlin you can drink it from typical porcelain or ceramic cups without handles. I recommend trying the Vietnamese spring rolls (very different from Chinese) with a good cup of green tea - it's what I always have when I come here. Its owner, Si An Truong, has another restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg, which bears his name: SI An, and it's worth a visit, especially in summer, for its full pavement garden and exotic fruit desserts. The tea presentation and variety is equal to that of Chén Chè.
