"Chatsworthouse"

Chatsworth House is a sixteenth century mansion owned by the Dukes of Devonshire and has been in the Cavendish family since 1549. The farm covers an area of 14,000 hectares containing forests, gardens, farms, rivers, towns and an adventure park. The landscapes are all completely green, surrounded by trees and plants of many kinds and woolly sheep grazing (typical of the region). The gardens surrounding the mansion are exceptionally well cared for and they are awesome, so are its boulevards and labyrinths of plants. Each year the Dukes holds concerts, fashion shows and other events in the house and garden, always for charity.

What visitors pay is used to maintain the house, garden and park and money is also distributed to local and national charities. Almost all the house can be visited and it contains large collections of art, including paintings, books, old master drawings, tapestries, prints and jewelry. There are a lot of marble sculptures within the largest and most visited rooms in the house, works of different authors (mostly British). The mansion has been used for filming (both film and TV, such as the Keira Knightley film "Pride and Prejudice"). The shop is typical (porcelains, etc.) and there's a cafeteria. 100% recommended visit.
