Built in the seventeenth century, the Chapel of the incarnate Verb is a beautiful historic building with a Baroque facade - it ceased to be a place of worship during the French Revolution. The revolutionaries entered Avignon, destroyed some chapels and churches, confiscated works of art and banned religion as, to them, these things represented the feudal power which they wanted to undo. The chapel was laid in 1998 at the disposal of the association of theater in the city for use as a concert hall! They renovated it and now every summer and you can see in this amazing place festival contemporary
