Chapel of Tears

Another chapel on the stairway that ascends Mount Espinho to the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus. Inside are many sculptures depicting the scene of the anointing of the dead Christ when he was taken down from the cross before burial. Christ appears with Mary Magdalene, St. John and the Virgin - all with expressions of bitterness and pain on their faces.
