Si estás en Alcaudete, no puedes perderte visitar su castillo calatravo, y por supuesto, el Centro de Interpretación de la Orden Militar de Calatrava (CIOMC), donde te trasladarás al siglo XIII para conocer de primera mano el origen e historia de los monjes-guerreros calatravos, que construyeron este castillo (sobre la base del antiguo fortín árabe), de vital importancia en la frontera con el reino nazarí de Granada durante los s. XV-XVI. A lo largo del recorrido por las caballerizas, la torre del homenaje, el refectorio y los aljibes, podrás ver, por ejemplo, una exposición de armas y máquinas de guerra que empleaban los monjes en sus incursiones, o conocerás cómo era su vida en el interior del castillo. La exposición se divide en 4 áreas: -El castillo como elemento de frontera (siglos XII-XIV); -Como elemento de defensa y difusión de la fe de Cristo (siglo XIII); -Como unidad básica administrativa (siglos XIII-XIV) -Como instrumento de guerra (siglo XIII)
