Excellent Exhibitions
The Centro del Carmen is one of my favorite museums in Valencia. It is a short distance from the Instiituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (IVAM) in the old part of town. You can take a walk from the IVAM until this place. The Centro del Carmen is under the authority of the Museo de Bellas Artes and it's dedicated to temporary exhibits. They generally bring works of magnificent artists from the most important museums. This architectural complex used to be an old convent, but when it was disentailed it first became the Museum and Academy of San Carlos, then a Fine Arts School until 1986. Now it is part of the consortium of museums of the community of Valencia and a beautiful architectural complex of medieval origin. It still preserves the refectory, chapter house and a gothic and renaissance cloisters.
