Caverns with a height of 30 or 40 meters

These caverns are wide and impressive areas that can reach a height of 30 or 40 meters and there are big stalactites hanging everywhere. Stalagmites also arise in cases connected forming gigantic columns. These caves were used by man 2500 years ago but are remembered as indigenous refuge in the wars. It took a little over an hour to leave them and return to the origin. The output was a sinkhole, but then we saw we had to climb to get out a little. Permit me a small geological explanation by which I try to explain the veneration of the Yucatec Maya Chac, the god of rain. After the highlands of Chiapas and Guatemala, the magnificent Yucatan Peninsula appeared.

This plain has a very marked dry season. The dry season has a very strong water shortages and drought caused major catastrophes. This required a great devotion to the god of rain. The lack of water and rivers is due to the composition of the rocky, mostly limestone. This rock is very permeable and used to form the surface karst and caves and potholes large underground when the thickness of the limestone layer is deep.
