Una de las cosas que más me ...
Una de las cosas que más me sorprendieron de Guadix es que siendo un pueblo relativamente pequeño, constase con una impresionante Catedral.
La edificación es tan grande que puede verse desde cualquier punto entrada del pueblo, poniendo una nota majestuosa entre tantas casitas blancas y encaladas.
En el lugar donde ahora se asienta la catedral, existió en el siglo X una Iglesia Visigoda creada por San Tocuarto, en esta Iglesia se instaló la Mezquita en tiempo de la dominación musulmana, y después de la reconquista, volvió a ser Sede Episcopal, llamandola Santa María de la Encarnación.
Aunque se pensó en hacer una Catedral nueva, se fué acoplando diversas construcciones de varios estilos y copiando algunas caracteristicas de las Catedrales de Málaga y Granada.
El entorno de la Catedral es muy amplio, y en un lateral hay un antiguo patio "corral" con sus arcadas donde hay diversas tiendas de artesanía.
En la parte posterior de la catedral hay varios edificios señoriales que aún conservan todo su esplendor
