Cathedral of Pécs
Approaching Pécs, the most striking sight is the four magnificent towers of the cathedral, quite different from many in Spain and Europe. It was rebuilt in the nineteenth century on the old Romanesque church with clear Lombard influences. Today it is preserved as a crypt and was restored again between 1962 and 1968. The church organ was made by Angster and has slowly expanded over the years. But undoubtedly the most interesting place to visit is the crypt with its arches and vaults reminiscent of Byzantine style. Really beautiful. The reliefs that can be admired are replicas of those made in the eleventh century by György Zala.
