The Cathedral Basilica of Zacatecas is an architectural gem. It's known for its façade and is one of the most outstanding examples of Baroque art in Mexico. The temple was built in 1752, and was consecrated in 1841. It reached the rank of cathedral in 1862 (granted by Pope Pius IX) and finally in 1959 Pope John XXIII named it a Basilica.
