Castle-Fortress
In the village of Comares (called the Balcony of Axarquia) the remains of this castle-fortress can be seen. The Moorish castle, was built on an ancient Roman fortress. If you climb up the remains of the fortress to what is also commonly known as "The Tahona" (rest of the great wall that surrounded the castle), you can see a wonderful view of the whole town which appears to be suspended in a rock. You can also see the spectacular Sierra Tejeda Massif to the north and the sea to the south.
