Castle of Medellín
In Medellín there has always been a castle. Well, actually, its construction was ordered by King Richard II of Castilla at the end of the 14th century after the destruction of the previous castle by Pedro the Cruel. The castle hangs over the Guadiana River and reigns over a large part of the Vegas Atlas sub-region.
You can get there via a stone trail and it costs 2€ to access the interior. Besides the castle’s monumental presence and the amazing views offered, the ruins of a Roman Theatre are also next door and can be visited via the same trail.
