Castellina in Chianti
We started our trip to Chianti from Poggibonsi, near Siena, and we took a local highway toward the first village, which was called Castellina in Chianti. Very pretty village, mostly pedestrian, with a medieval feel. It's perfectly preserved like the rest of the villages in Tuscany. These populations thrive mostly on tourism and the production and distribution of Chianti wine, because of that they take care of everything to the point of perfection: The facades of the houses are newly-renovated with stone wash, and the Etruscan pedestrian streets have been renovated for walkability.
Even though I have to say that it's not plagued with tourists and it's a nice walk, it doesn't overhwhelm you with its presence.
