Although Olbia is a fairly modern city with a huge commercial and industrial port, in certain areas the Sardinian architectural charm has been preserved. Olbia, called "happy city" by the Greeks, was founded by the Carthaginians. Later, in the third century, the Romans took its magnificent natural harbor to develop a large business between North Africa, Hispania (Spain), the Gaul (France), and of course the Italian peninsula. You can find the heart of the city at the junction where Corso Umberto meets Corso Vittorio Emanuele where you can see the city hall, built in 1932, where many of the locals go for a stroll.
