Casa Porta de Santiago

Casa Porta de Santiago is a place which every pilgrim travelling the Camino Frances should visit. It's not exactly a hostel, more a house with rooms: there are three bedrooms (one with a double bed and bathroom), a kitchen with everything you need, a living/dining room, full bathroom, garden, barbecue facilities and garage. The price is 110 euros per day, quite expensive for the frugal spirit of the pilgrim. We only stopped for breakfast, which was indeed the most expensive of our trip, but the setting is beautiful and so close to Santiago, making it worth a stop, even if just to adjust your boots

My partner and I came along this gem as he walked between Castenada and Lavacolla. We knew we would need a place close to the airport once we finished the Camino and this was the place for us.

Elena and her husband were the most wonderful of hosts. They felt like family ve wanted to help us on our journey, a real Camino experience!

The accommodations were so clean, modern and comfortable I would rate them as The best on the Trail. Even the Eurostar(in Santiago wasn’t as lovely because Elena made the experience for us). From the personal connection to the large bottle of aloe body wash in the shower... it all felt like a family experience. Just what I was hoping for on the trail.
