House of the Two Towers
The oldest in the city
Built by the Abbot of Santander, Monroy Perez, in the early fourteenth century, this palace is the oldest in the city. It is commonly known as the Two Towers, though currently there is only one, since the other was demolished in 1913.
In this high square tower you can see the shield of Carvajal, who bought the house in the nineteenth century and reformed it according to the style of the time. He added, for example, a Renaissance sun-trap supported by decorated capitals. Also worthy of noting is the front of the palace, in Gothic style, flanked by two lions high up.
