Canela
The gaucho town of Canela has a multi-faceted personality, because it is the mixture of German, Italian, Indian and gaucho serrano cultures. It's just as easy to eat a German frankfurt as it is to have a gaucho-style steak, or pasta a feijoada. Canela is a tourist town, my visit was very close to the Easter period, and the town was full of huge Easter rabbits which looked like copies of Bugs Bunny. The people look after their gardens, there are flower beds and flowers on every street, and there is a cathedral in the English Gothic style, very beautiful, dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, known as "The Stone Church", as it is made of basaltic rock.
