A tribute to the Canadian Army
Located along the Mersey River, Canada Boulevard was officially named in 1995 in recognition of the support provided by the Canadian Army during the Second World War, including the protection of convoys during the Battle of the Atlantic, and in memory of all Canadians who died during that conflict. Every tree along the boulevard was named after a warship or merchant ship that disappeared during the Battle of the Atlantic, and there are many other commemorative statues along the street, including one in honor of Sir Alfred Jones whose assistance enabled the port of Liverpool to develop.
