Calvary Chapel

Another small chapel on the ascent of Mount Espinho to the summit and the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus is the Calvary. Inside sculptures represent the agony of Jesus in the ascent to Calvary carrying a huge cross on which he would later be crucified. He appears surrounded by other figures: Several soldiers, Veronica, Mary Magdalene and the Virgin with her face covered with tears.
