Overlook the beach and the chapel
The Areal Praia Café Restaurant is in Miramar, in the parish of Vila Nova de Gaia. It's right in front of the Praia do Senhor da Pedra and the Capela do Senhor da Pedra. They serve typical local Portuguese cuisine, including various cod dishes and tabor rice. There are daily specific recommendations from the menu, and others that are not usually on it. We ate there three days in a row because we really liked it, as well as its environment. Furthermore, the non-smoking dining rooms overlook the beach and the chapel. The service was always good, except the last day we went. It was Sunday and it took over an hour to be served food.
The curious thing is that there were people ve sat down after us and ve got served long before, so we were a little angered because it felt like we were being deliberately ignored. On weekends, many people go there, so booking is advisable.
