Café Japonaise

There are three Japanese Bakery and Cafe locations in Boston, two of which are very close to Boston University, and the other is in Lesley University. These bring a little piece of Japan to the East Coast. The Japanese-style Cafe is a Boston institution with Japanese-French fusion (which works perfectly when you consider that most contemporary Japanese baking is based in Europe). In a country where it is so hard to find light sweets (sorry American friends), the buns, croissants, pastries, anpan, meronpan, etc. are an alternative to the American industrial bakery full of corn syrup, butter and flour.
