Caernafon Castle
Caernafon Castle in Gwyned, situated next to the sea on the North Wales coast, is the most impressive medieval construction that has been preserved in this charming country. Built in the fourteenth century but history says that in the same place there was a castle before. On the few occasions that the Welsh have posed a threat to the English, this castle has always been involved. Although for a change it was the English King, Edward I, who was responsible for the brutal massacre of the Welsh. This castle had the function of being the official place of the coronation of the Prince of Wales, giving prestige to the location.
