Because of its strategic location in the center of La Alpujarra, Cádiar was an important commercial center in Muslim times and had a moment of glory in the nineteenth century thanks to agriculture. Today, many of its buildings crumbling abandoned and half are a sad example of how hard it is to preserve the ancient architecture in the region. Cádiar remains the starting point for access to the most emblematic mountain villages. From the small valley in which it sits, the road climbs to dizzying heights where white villages of Bérchules and Juviles Alcútar are located. As Cádiar, everyone deserves a walk through its streets: Every corner, every corner, is a balcony from where the magnificent scenery of the Alta Alpujarra enjoying.

This tiny village offers all the features of the other villages, such as local care with which they treat the inhabitants Balconies: always blossomed from very bright colors. On the edge of it is possible (using the map of the Park) to the trails in the woods nearby.
