Adventure To Anywhere
Challenging and beautiful
Buller Pass is a challenging and beautiful 13km hike that starts at the west end of the Buller Mountain day use parking lot. It is an out-and-back route (unless you choose to hike through to Ribbon Falls) with steady elevation gain for the first few hours through thick forest that quickly leads to an open, rocky section and a massive head wall. Once you overcome the head wall, though, you will be rewarded with the most stunning panoramic views down onto Ribbon Lake.
This is a very popular day hike in the summer months, so you will definitely see other people, but as always, carry bear spray.
