Mentioned in the Lazarillo de Tormes
The stone bull is one of the most important sculptures to be found in the city of Salamanca and also one of its most storied works, in fact it is mentioned in various pieces of Spanish literature. For example, it’s quoted in the "Lazarillo de Tormes."
It is easy to locate as it is next to the famous 1st century Puente Romano (Roman Bridge), the Romanesque-Mudejar church of Santiago and the bronze statue of Lazarillo de Tormes.
This stone statue represents a boar or a bull, with great dimensions and a precise size exceeding 2 meters in length. According to historians, it is the work of the people ve first settled on the Iberian plateau before Roman rule, presumably in this case it would be the vettones, just like the Toros de Guisando (Bulls of Guisando) in Avila.
