Buchart Gardens

The Buchart Gardens were created in 1906 as a private garden by Mrs Buchart. Today they are managed by the state as a National Monument and are one of the most visited tourist attractions on Vancouver Island. Every year, for over 60 years, there is a rose competition and the winning roses are still grown and maintained on permanent display. The wonderful fragrances and intensity of the colors provide a wonderful and tranquil environment.

A floral delight

I was amazed that these gardens were created by taking an ugly quarry area and turning it into one of the most beautiful floral places on Earth.
