Fortified and Surrounded by Vineyards

This is a fortified village surrounded by vineyards just next to a hill in upper Rioja, It is worth walking through the medieval streets, visiting the two churches (the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción and the Chapel of Santo Cristo de los Remedios), as well as its civil architecture (House of Gadea, House of the Díaz-Lizana, and the house-palace of the Marquis of San Nicolás, which today is the city-hall).

A Breath of Fresh Air

High up on a hill, the village of Briones is a breath of fresh air for the traveler looking for charming villages. With a medieval touch that makes it unique, a walk through the streets and arriving at the square are amazing sensations.

The church of Our Lady of the Assumption, of the 16th century, always dominates the frame of a village that, by the way, is becoming quite famous, since it appears on TV. It is the place where they shoot the Spanish program Gran Reserva. Oh, and a piece of advice: buy some of the home-made chorizo they sell at the butcher's there. Delicious.
