Brijuni National Park

Brijuni National Park

This holiday took place a week before my wedding accompanied by my soon to be future wife. The arrival on the island is idyllic, sailing from the town of Fazana and reaching the island port of Veli Brijun (meaning Great Brijun). The Brijuni islands consist of 14 islands, of which the most important is Veli Brijun. These islands have passed through the ownership of the Roman Empire, Venice, Austro-Hungary, and Yugoslavia and now have finally become a nature park in Croatia. During the day, a maximum of 400 people are allowed on the island, so after renting bicycles or golf carts (no traditional cars are allowed on the island) and you can take a turn around the island, it is very rare to meet someone on the way.

The entire coast is formed by rocks that allow you to rest anytime during the ride to dive into the clear waters of the Adriatic. They even have their own safari trip with animals brought from all over the world by the former dictator of Yugoslavia, Tito. An really unforgettable experience! Highly recommended!

Two options in Brijuni (choose either)

Dos opciones en Brijuni (elige bien)

Excellent
There are two options for visiting the island: - The first is by organized tour from the port of Fazana. It costs about 30 € per person and will include transportation to the island, a small train ride for the same, and the entrance to the museum safari Tito. It lasts 4h. This is what will sell in the tourist office Fazana. - The second option is known and less visited the island on your own. In the same tourist office will have to indicate that you want to tour the island on your own and you just want transportation to the island. This is the same price as the old package (30 € per person) but it gives you the option to be on the island all the while quiereas. They will give you hours of boats usually leave from each destination, each 1:30 h. This is the option we liked. We visited the island on our own, we rented some bikes (15 € per person) and got a map that we missed the island. It was an amazing day. We visited Roman ruins, Byzantine, coves, and barely feel the burden of the people. It was great! I recommend it.

Wonderful island that should not be missed

Brijuni National Park, only give you the option to visit the island of Veli Brijuni, also called "Isla de Tito". We wanted to visit for free, fleeing from the tour and the little train that runs. The first surprise was that at points Fazana information where asked, we were told that was not possible, and no voice shook them to lie blatantly. The second surprise was that to get the regular boat ticket Park, worth exactly the same as the guided tour! At all times we were told that the maximum time on the island was 4 hours, but once there, you realize that's not true and you can enjoy all day on it. Keep in mind that not only directions to the various pintos of the island and is forbidden to swim across it except for a small little beach nearby. We rented bikes for 110 kunas for the day. Wonderful island not to be missed!
