A good family outing
The Brighton Museum and Art Gallery is located in the gardens of the Royal Pavilion. The Pavilion looks like the palace of an Indian Maharajah, and the museum is on the other side of the palace. It is open daily from 10 to 5 (10 to 7 Tuesday, 10 to 2 Sunday). Admission is free, except for temporary exhibitions. The place has reopened after an extensive renovation, and has collections of paintings, sculptures, gifts from people of the city, and loans from major national museums. There is a section on ancient Egypt, with two renovated galleries and a full size mummy of a young girl. The World Art gallery includes objects from the five continents.
