Il Ponte dei Leoni, sul fiume Lambro, è stato costruito nel 1842 in occasione dell'apertura dell'odierna via Vittorio Emanuele (allora Via Fernandea) e costituiva uno degli ingressi alla città.
Costruito sulle rovine del ponte precedente (di cui si nota ancora un'arcata rinvenuta in occasione di una pulizia del fiume) è costituito da tre arcate e delimitato da quattro leoni sugli angoli (dello scultore Antonio Tantardini), "accucciati" su basamenti di marmo, che sembrano custodirlo e a cui deve il suo nome.
Per via di questa particolarità è forse il ponte più conosciuto di Monza, ed essendo così ben riconoscibile, è stato utilizzato da generazioni di ragazzini come luogo di "puntello" !!!
The Bridge of Lions, on the river Lambro, was built in 1842 to mark the opening of today's Via Vittorio Emanuele (Via Fernandea then) and was one of the entrances to the city. Built on the ruins of the previous bridge (of which there's still an arch found in the course of cleaning the river) is composed of three arches and surrounded by four lions on the corners (the sculptor Antonio Tantardini), "squatting" on marble bases , which seem to guard it and to which it owes its name. Because of this peculiarity is perhaps the most famous bridge in Monza, and being so easily recognizable, has been used by generations of kids as a place of "prop"!
