A field of dunes
Braunton Burrows is a huge field of dunes located in the county of Devon in the southwest of England. This is a unique geological area that covers about 1400 hectares, with countless dunes creating a special ecosystem. Braunton Burrows is a protected area classified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest by the Government because of the very rare plant species found there. It is also a place steeped in history since it is here that the Anglo-American troops prepared for the Allied invasion of Normandy in 1943. The Army continues to train regularly in this barren landscape, and it is also a national
Park, open to the public.
