A charming town
We promised the kids to take them on a boat ride on the lake, and decided to head to Windermere. We stopped along the way in Bowness-on-Windermere, made famous by the film Miss Potter, telling the story of the children's author Beatrix Potter, who lived in this town; there's still an exhibition of her work here today. Once we reached the town we found it much more charming than the lake itself, all very English and idyllic. Best of all, it stopped raining when we arrived, and we enjoyed a beautiful rainbow as a backdrop to our photos. The boat ride takes 45 or 90 minutes, and interestingly, many
