Saloons, gunfights, and homemade candy
Boot Hill is one of the most interesting and surprising places you can visit in all of Kansas (and I'd say a good part of the Midwest, too!). Boot Town is a perfectly-recreated frontier town complete with saloons, smithy shops, costumed actors, and plenty of exhibits recreating what life was like in the rowdy Wild West of the 1800’s. First and foremost, it’s a museum. As such, it has plenty of exhibits detailing the clothing of the era, the plains Indians, the importance of buffalo during the time, and the living conditions that pioneers were subject to. However, the real fun starts with the activities. The best activity is the dinner-and-show option. For around $30, you get access to the entire museum, a hearty country-style dinner, and a front-and-center seat for an old-fashioned saloon show complete with music and dancing. If you get there a little early, you can also catch one of the daily gunfights held on the main street.
