Bitola
Upon touring several cities in Macedonia in 2008, I found that Bitola was one of the cities that I liked, but only spent a day in this city. It was cold and raining but still quite lovely. Bitola is located in the southwestern part of Macedonia. It is an important administrative, cultural, industrial, commercial and educational place. It is located in the southern part of Pelagonia valley, surrounded by mountains and Nid Baba Ee, 14 kilometers north of the border crossing Med-Niki Eitlija linking the Republic of Macedonia with Greece. It connects the southern Adriatic Sea with the Aegean Sea and Central Europe.
Since the Ottoman period, it has been known as the city of the consuls, because several European countries had consulates in the city. The city is located along the Dragor river, at an altitude of about 600 meters above sea level at the foot of Mount Baba, which is located west of the city and its highest peak, the Pelister at 2601 m which features endemic Macedonian flora. There is also a ski resort in this area. Bitola has 95,385 inhabitants, reaching a population of 122,173 inhabitants including its periphery.
